The bedtime radio show for grown ups

We continue with our year long tribute to Katherine Dunn, co founder of Gremlin Time, who pasted away last Spring, by presenting another reading by her. And, in honor of the space ship Athena's recent entrance to the atmosphere of Jupiter. we present a classic scifi story, "Desertion" by Clifford D. Simak., No survey team, sent out from a base on the hellish surface of Jupiter, have returned. So, a senior administrator volunteers to go through the biological transformation and venture outside himself to investigate. Not wanting to leave his old dog behind on the base without him, he arranges for the canine to also go through the transformation to allow them both to survive out on the surface of the gas giant. This story was first published in the November 1944 issue of Astonishing Science Fiction. Also, an episode of the classic Science Fiction radio show, X-Minus One, "The Tunnel Under the World" by Fredrick Pohl
