Self Help Radio is not a self-help radio show. The confusion is understandable. However, one may help oneself to a weekly examination of a particular theme featuring music, interviews with "experts," & quite possibly things that are "funny." It began in Austin, spent some time in Appalachia, & now gazes lovingly at the giant fir trees in Portland, Oregon. A fellow named Gary hosts it. It's a lot of hooey but sometimes the songs are good.  Find out more infomation about the show at its website, selfhelpradio.net.

A glowing radio show. Or a radio show about glow. Both are surprisingly visible in the dark. This episode of Self Help Radio positively glows.  Most probably because of the preponderance of glow songs within, but also because it features interviews with a fellow named E... Read more

On this episode of Self Help Radio, we explore the year 1985.  But it's not, as one might expect, a casual overview of the year in music, no.  These are - & this is just as one might expect - the favorite songs of the year by the show's host, whose name is Gary. You see, e... Read more

Everyone agreed it was time for Jean to have a show dedicated to her.  The big disagreements were whether to include Jeannies & Jeanettes & Janines.  But Jean, luckily, is magnanimous.  Jean is welcoming & kind. Tonight's show not only featured songs exclusively about Jean,... Read more

In 2005, when Self Help Radio was airing on a radio station in Austin with the call letters K O O P, pronounced ko-op, not "coop," it aired a program with the theme "Indiepop A To Z # 1." The genre of indiepop had not yet begun to be discussed as "independent pop," meaning... Read more
