The picture next to this paragraph is a painted easter egg collection owned by a neighbor of Self Help Radio's host Gary. They were painted on real eggs, perhaps decades ago, when the neighbor's kids were young. Being store-bought, the eggs were unfertilized, & over time whatever was inside somehow dissipated. They were light & quite hollow. But so weirdly beautiful.
None of which can really be said about this week's Self Help Radio, a show about eggs. There are cartons & cartons of egg songs, plus interviews: a librarian stops by the talk about egg books; we talk to the show's nutritionist about eggs; a fellow from the Egg Theater Company chats about his unusual cast; the author of 101 Games With Eggs discusses his book; & the show's resident cinephile stops by to talk about movies featuring eggs.
It's hard to believe so much can happen during a radio show but remember, it's three hours. There were lots of egg songs (as you can see below) to fill up the time.
Don't be hard-boiled - scramble to listen!
