Iran is ranked third worldwide in terms of impact of the COVID-19 pandemic after China and Italy, but has largely been ignored by Western media. The situation in Iran is exacerbated by sanctions by the United States, which have crippled the Iranian economy, including the healthcare sector. According to local sources in Iran, doctors lack resources to deal with the rapid spread of the virus. Just this week, the U.S. reauthorized sanctions against Iran and Venezuela.

KBOO's Jenka Soderberg spoke with Kathy Kelly from Voices for Creative Non-Violence on why the U.S. should lift sanctions on Iran in the wake of the COVID-19 virus.
