Two musicians; one instrument. Different styles, one result: Emotion, depth of sound, and melodic story tellers. Jarrett and Evan share an affinity. In spite the fact Evans is named as a Jarrett influence, they equally hold up a sound so peacefully, and soulfully resonate, a hearing of one or the other is often hard to distinguish, but equally astonishing. What is easy to determine: the serious jazz community gets excited anew with these two.
For this episode of The Motif; Call it a comparative analysis, or not, juxtaposition rewards the discerning listener. Jazz music is often identified as intellectual. This just might be the most telling admission. The journey these two forge on their instrument is panoramic, and passion, at its most beguiling moment. This episode is for the serious listener.
