Naomi Klein's action-based organization The Leap reaches out to labor in Oregon

Does it seem like the forces of “me,” personified by Trump, are increasingly powerful, while the forces of “we,” exemplified by the organized labor movement, are increasingly marginalized?  Naomi Klein believes so, and in addition to writing great books like The Shock Doctrine and No Is Not Enough she’s co-founded The Leap, a plan to combine indigenous rights, social and food justice, environmental, faith-based and labor movements into a coalition with the goal of creating a “clean energy economy in a way that addresses systemic racism and economic inequality.”

Sound interesting?  The Leap’s U.S. Coordinator, Anthony Rogers-Wright, joins Lane Poncy and Michael Morrow on Labor Radio’s 5th Monday this month, July 31st, at 6pm, to talk about the Leap and his work.  Just back from working with union folks in Nebraska, and on his way home to Seattle to spend time with his family before hitting the road again, Anthony will talk about what’s going on with The Leap, and what local labor folks can do to help promote this organization’s goals.

In the vein of Paul Hawken’s “Drawdown,” The Leap seems to be working to give hope, and direction, to local people and communities, moving us in a sane direction in spite of the discouraging dysfunction that has engulfed national leadership.  Should be an interesting half hour, and we hope you’ll join us!
