Andy sits in for regular fourth Thursday host Gareth with an eclectic mix of African sounds. The first half hour will feature Cameroon's Francis Bebey (pictured). Then we will move on to traditional sounds from Guinée (Takadja, Mory Kanté, Sididki Conde, Kanté Manfila) followed by roots-based music from Gambia (Ifang Bondi, Foday Musa Suso). We will also preview songs from new releases by kora player Sean Gaskell (Seattle) and Portland's Njuzu Mbira --they will be appearing together this Friday, June 29th at the Tabor Theater Lounge,4811 SE Hawthorne. And we will hear a track from the new release of Zimbabwean mbira master Musekiwa Chingodza, who will be performing at Mississippi Pizza next Tuesday, July 3. The program will conclude with selections from Ghana's Kakraba Lobi, Seprewa Kasa, and the Pan African Orchestra.
