Portland Youth Philharmonic, America’s longest running youth orchestra, closes its historic 100th season this Friday, May 31st at Portland’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The program, titled “A Century of Unforgettable Music”, includes George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue”, which is also celebrating its centennial year, and Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony”, the very first piece performed by the orchestra back in 1924.

To preview Friday’s concert, we’re joined today by David Hattner, PYP’s Musical Director, along with Hunter Noack and Pink Martini’s Thomas Lauderdale, the soloists on Gershwin’s Rhapsody.
