America's oil habit is draining the Alberta Tar Sands.

Hosted by Abe Proctor and Joe Uris

The oil contained in the Alberta Tar Sands is the dirtiest on Earth. Open pit mines bloom in the Canadian north, swallowing forest and tundra. It takes roughly five barrels of water and one of natural gas to extract one barrel of crude from the sticky sands. So naturally, it's a great idea to build a pipeline to pump it to Texas.

Abe and Joe examine this latest folly in the endless quest for petroleum, as well as ways we can begin to wean ourselves from our petroleum habit.

This video might help you understand how long our Oil Supply is likely to last.
