On today's episode of the Food Show, Lane Selman and Patrick Merscher talk about the Northern Organic Vegetable Improvement Collaborative, the Culinary Breeding Network, and their work helping organic growers select the best winter squash varieties. Among other evaluation tools, they host taste tests to find new varities with the best flavor and texture.
In the second half of the show, we’ll listen to "Farming is Medicine: Transforming our World through Agroecology" a keynote address by Dr Rupa Marya from the January 2021 EcoFarm conference. Dr Marya draws on data from the health sciences, history, ecology and soil science to argue that agroecology can help us reimagine our future and our health.
