All of written human history and the rise of civilization has taken place within the Holocene Age, which commenced at the end of the last ice age. It was an age of relatively stable climate and comparatively little geological upheaval. Geological scientists are now suggesting that we have entered into a new age—the Anthropocene. Humanity, they argue, no longer merely exploits and befouls nature, but that human activity is now the cause of fundamental and disastrous changes to the natural world. Tom Becker shares an article entitled “Re-inhabiting Planet Earth” by Robert Koehler from Counter Punch. Robert Koehler is a Chicago award-winning journalist and editor.
