Host Liz Schwartz interviews violinist and vocalist Michelle Alany. Alany has garnered acclaim for her dynamic performances and lush world sound. Alany performs Gypsy-infused Balkan music, Sephardic melodies and klezmer-punk with her band Nefesh JoyKestra. They move deftly from Bulgarian classics to Texas Swing, with an emphasis on driving-danceable rhythms and soulful improvisation with Mediterranean themes. Alany also fronts another band, The Mystics, and will be performing with them live on July 20 at the Kennedy School. Tune in for a preview of this not-to-be-missed show!
