Process-based artist Wynde Dyer discusses her tarp quilts and the housing crisis.
Sharing the Scraps can be viewed at
Stumptown Coffee Roasters
4525 SE Division St.
On March 27th, Easter Sunday, from 4-6 p.m. there will be a public reception for the artist. Community members are encouraged to come and enjoy live music by Gepetto, free food by Amanda Luna and the Hazelnut Grove Community Kitchen, and free drinks by New Deal Distillery. The grand finale will feature a screening of a Hazelnut Grove documentary by Kevin Neidorf, and land-based synchronized swimming performance by The Olivia Darlings.
Artist Statement:
Sharing the Scraps presents three new interrelated bodies of tarp quilt work that, when combined, present an implicit proposal for a new kind of sharing economy - as opposed to the so-called corporate "sharing economy" of Uber, Airbnb, and the ilk - wherein individuals with very little financial capital utilize their social and creative capital, and on-hand skills and resources, to engage in small-scale philanthropic efforts to help those adversely impacted by income inequality.
