Outside World WHO'S IN CHARGE? MAPS OF THE WORLD
GUEST EXPLORERS tonight on the After Midnight to 3 AM
OUTSIDE WORLD (3/28/2015) will be
Mitch Ritter & the Paradigm Shifters with Leo Daedalus, Tom Richards & Thomas Dietzel
circa THE LATE NOW
Danielle did a splendidly adventurous turn as Guest Explorer last week!
Fresh off their channeling of THE LATE NOW via OW from 2 weeks back (3/14/2015), Leo Daedalus, Thomas Dietzel and Tom Richards who so cracked me up with their freestyle rapping in Classical Greek and Finnish while channeling George Strait and fielding callers with paleo-linguistic obsessions from the Early Etch-A-Sketch Era into the late Cuneiform Period return to KBOO's Sumerian Vistas of OW!
AFTER MIDNIGHT Prof. Irwin Corey's spawn will once again reconvene for their KALEVALA-PALOOZA featuring live music with drop-in guests from Pre-Code Chanteuse Malachi Graham
with a new EP's worth of Pre-Code torch ballads for the 21st C.
Other guests may or may not materialize but with Leo, Tom & Thomas channeling
THE LATE NOW over OW this should be lively around KBOO's studios from midnight til ?
Literary interludes expected from Al Young's musical memoirs as I recently tracked down an out of print copy of the third volume, THINGS AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE (Berkeley publisher Creative Arts is outta bid-net per Bay Area Arnie's House of Cards aka WhatEverest Passman).

FURIOUS COOL (big time thanks El Cerrito Al for sending the Richard Pryor biography by
songwriter-producer Joe Henry co-researched and written insightfully with his brother David Henry) intercut with Dave Van Ronk's memoir as told to Elijah Wald and still in print titled THE MAYOR OF McDOUGAL STREET
Until reading the Pryor bio I had no idea he was on the scene in the Village in early 1960's playing same dives as the Beats, Folkies, Jazzers, Dylans old & new etc. Richard Pryor however wasn't crashing on Dave Van Ronk's floor as Dylan did, he was sleeping uptown, on a roof covered with the downy if inky warmth of old newspapers as arranged by veteran Chitlin Circuit rider and inveterate roof sleeper Redd Foxx! They had dish washing gigs in Harlem! Who knew? Also good chapter on Richard Pryor's escape from L.A. and hejira to Oakland-Berkeley to open his mind reading Malcolm X and hanging with Angela, Huey, Bobby, David & the Black Panthers blocks from the Oakland Marina.
Songlines theme on tonight's OUTSIDE WORLD will be WHO'S IN CHARGE? MAPS OF THE WORLD like Quantum Physics teaches, songlines bend, OW! will be plenty bent.....
Sampling from John Cale & Bobby Neuwirth's LAST DAY ON EARTH album
from the mid-90's and yet now unfolding around the OUTSIDE WORLD
that I never got to or thought I'd ever get to when I first was invited to OW as Guest Explorer
back during The Not So Late Now last December!

Also, the reissues (from UK of course, where they really appreciate our discarded culture
and treat the good stuff with respect) of FLYING DUTCHMAN Jazz Masters of South Central L.A. featuring THE GIANT AWAKENS by the founder of the Pan Afrika People's Arkestra HORACE TAPSCOTT with his QUINTET (2 basses, killer drummer,
Horace at percussive piano tearing off melody lines from the heart of the ARKESTRA's Mother Ship with Black Arthur Blythe on his loosest and most spontaneous alto sax excursions........
Indispensable to anyone's music library, support these reissues and dig the art work (with a magnifying glass from the original vinyl LP's issued in late 1960's early 1970's) & updated liner notes by folks who love the opening up of sound...Po'town's finer music shops are carrying the whole reissue series including the John Carter-Bobby Bradford combos who were no strangers to the Central Avenue scene and Horace's Pan Afrika People's Arkestra...

Horace Tapscott Quintet: The Giant Is Awakened | Jazz da...
There are very few musicians who can be turned towards to feel the beating heart of African-American ethos. Horace Tapscott is one of them.
