Joseph Gallivan interviews conceptual artist Ben Buswell

On December 10, 2013 at 11.30am Joseph Gallivan interviews the conceptual artist Ben Buswell about his process-driven photography and sculpture. His works often involve cutting the surface of his photographs of water and sand as he explores perspective and the western thought. Ben Buswell's show We Live Only Through Ourselves is on now at Upfor Gallery until January 25, 2014.

From the Upfor press release: A solo exhibition of Ben Buswell’s recent work offers meditations on loss and mourning tinged with the unrest of personal politics. Through the doubling of images and objects, surface violations, abstraction and material choices, Buswell creates objects that collapse the distance between perception and understanding. Buswell lives and works in Portland and received his MFA from University of Wisconsin at Madison. Recent solo exhibitions include Helzer Gallery, TILT Gallery and Project Space. His work was included in the Portland2012 Biennial and in recent exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. ### About Upfor: Founded in 2013 by Theo Downes-Le Guin, Upfor presents both emerging and established artists working in digital and other mediums.
