This week I'll be taking you back in time, all the way to February 19th, 2010 at the Artistery, an all-ages house basement and gallery venue here in Portland. The performance was in support of Arrington De Dionyso's new album release Malaiktat Dan Singa out on K Records. Most folks interested in indie music have heard, or seen Old Time Relijun. Most folks interested in avant-garde and free jazz have witnessed Arrington perform solo. Now, if you are a fan of both -- as only a few are -- you will definitely dig a live performance of Malaiktat Dan Singa. Full of the brash punkish psychedelic energy of Old Time Relijun --but this is Arrington's band! -- he will sing as he desires, solo on the bass clarinet, and go as far in to a trance as he can. Did I mention that he translates the lyrics to Indonesian? Oh, no? Well he does.
Also on the program, a live performance in support of his new release on Bew Records, The Psychology of Booze and Guilt, Professor Gall.
