On this episode of the Gap, Tammy and Althea speak with Leslie Lee, the founder of the Soul Box Project. The Soul Box Project collects and exhibits thousands of hand-folded origami boxes to raise awareness of the U.S. gunfire epidemic. Each Soul Box holds space for one life lost or injured by gun violence, defense, accident or suicide. There is an exhibit on Saturday, June 26th from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Multnomah Arts Center campus, at 7688 SW Capitol Highway, Portland, OR on the west side of building. We learn more about the scope of the problem, individual actions to help and how art and activism (artivism) makes an impact with community engagement.
Then, we talk about preparing for the IMPENDING HEATWAVE. Us Pacific Northwest folks are not prepared for triple digits! There are a lot of resources available, like cooling centers at the county level, and free transportation if you need it. Plus, our callers give great advice for keeping cool at home without AC. Take a cold shower, folks, and turn your fan the opposite way.
