Portlanders are considering renaming Broadway after Cesar E. Chavez

The Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard Committee is trying to name a portland street after Chavez.
has been holding hearings aboutn renaming Grand St, Broadway, and Thirty Ninth Avenue.
This week City council held a hearing about the possibility of renaming Broadway.
Grand and Thirty-Ninth avenue are also under consideration.
Supporters of the name change say that Chavez is a heroic figure who deserves recognition.
Chavez fought for the rights of migrant farmworkers, and activists say that naming a street after him will inspire Portlanders.
Owners of businesses on Broadway, though, are not as supportive.
