Defend Democracy: Bill Resnick interviews Jeremy Breacher, a co-founder of the Labor Network for Sustainability. Brecher is an activist and has written many books and articles, including the labor classic, Strike! Today they discuss how mass movements can defend democracy and prevail against an impending Trump coup.

Labor, the Election and Beyond: Joe Clement talks with union organizer and education coordinator for Labor Notes, Barbara Madeloni, about how some unions are looking at the possibility of a stolen election or outright coup. They discuss calls for general strikes if need be, but also take a sober look at the need for a long-term strategy and worker-centered organizing methods for building power no matter who wins the election.

The Pull of the Stars: Larry Bowlden reviews the novel The Pull of the Stars by Irish-Canadian author Emma Donoghue. In Dublin, 1918, a nurse finds herself in charge of a small, makeshift ward of pregnant women who have contracted the flu. Her work is complicated by having to negotiate rampant sexism within the medical profession.

Loot: Sharon Grant takes on the controversial subject of looting by reading excerpts from “What Kind of Society Values Property Over Black Lives?by Dr. Robin D.G. Kelly, professor of American History;  In Defense of Looting, a new book by writer and agitator, Vicky Osterweil;  Who’s Really Looting America? by Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor; and “How American Power Dynamics Have Shaped Perceptions of Looting, From the Boston Tea Party to Today,” by writer and technologist, Anna Purna Kambhampaty.
