Tired of getting stuck with thorns when picking blackberries? We've got a suggestion: Columbia Star thornless blackberry! It's somewhat similar to Marionberries but without the bloodletting. Plus, reasons for growing delicate, sweet figs.

Host Glen Andresen is joined by Jim Gilbert for a live pre-recorded show, which, as always, is chalk full of gardening and plant news. We talk about growing figs, bud grafting, planting a summer cover crop, and how and when to harvest pears. We also offer homage to two recently deceased musicians.

As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (Columbia Star thornless blackberry); a new Garden Stumper (though no way for you to call in to win the prize), and from The Dirtbag Dictionary, we define "brix."  And, of course, what's annoying Glen this month.

The Dirtbag... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
