On July 8, Portland Police Deputy Chief Chris Davis spoke with members of the press about the escalation of violence at protests and emphasized that officers have been targeted by a small group of unlawful agitators.

Many have come out criticizing the Portland Police and other law agencies for not prioritizing the overall health and safety of majority non-violent protestors when using tear gas, rubber bullets and air munitions to disperse crowds.

KBOO’s Claire Rischiotto reports on this issue and invites local criminal defense and civil rights attorney Kenneth Kreuscher to give legal insight on protester rights and the use of force by police.
