Bill Resnick and Sharon Grant present a dramatic reading of C L R James’ essay "Every Cook Can Govern"that discusses the lessons for today of Athenian radical democracy, its glorious record according to James. To be sure it had problems, as James acknowledges, but this small group of Athenians generated a vast set of plays, essays, architectural innovations, and political forms that have deeply influenced the development of the West and indeed the world.
