Just two months ago it looked like the Oregon Legislature was poised to pass a slew of civil rights, environmental and equity bills. But this agenda was blindsided, first by Republican legislators who once again fled the state to protest the cap and trade bill. Their move shut down the session three days early, preventing the passage of over 100 other bills. On the heels of that fiasco the COVID-19 virus arrived in Oregon, shutting down the rest of life as we know it.
On this episode of Locus Focus, we talk with Karin Power, Oregon State Representative for District 41, who sponsored several of this sessions' still-born bills. We'll talk about what happens now to that agenda in the face of this pandemic.
