News accounts over the past years have told of one suicide after another among young veterans and members of the military. Now, the Department of Veterans affairs has some hard data to go with this anecdotal evidence.
It has announced that the suicide rate among eighteen to twenty-nine year old veterans increased by twenty-six percent over just two years, between two thousand five and two thousand seven.
KBOO’s Maggie Starr spoke with Aaron Glantz today about this disturbing trend.
He has written a book on how America is treating veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
