In Black Mesa, Arizona, the indigenous hopi and navaho nations are celebrating a victory. The U.S. Department of Interior has denied Peabody Western Coal Company the right to expand its operations in the area. The decision came in response to the latest of several appeals filed by Navaho and Hopi residents, as well as a diverse coalition of tribal and environmental groups.
Wa-hay-la Johns of Black Mesa Water Coalition comments on the effects.
