This is Paula with the KBOO Community Calendar for Tuesday, January 5th 2010.

Tonight at 7:30 pm, Matthew Flaming will be at Powell’s City of Books, located at 1005 W Burnside Street in Portland.

The maze-like streets of New York at the dawn of the mechanical age are the setting of Matthew Flaming's debut novel, The Kingdom of Ohio (Amy Einhorn Books), in which an unlikely duo find themselves wrestling with the nature of history, technology, and the unfolding of time itself. "A marvelous fable about the worlds beneath our feet and the conspiracies that turn our heads," cheers Kirkus Reviews (starred review).

Tomorrow on Wednesday, January 6th at 7 pm, join the Cascade Blues Association, for its monthly general membership meeting, at the Melody Ballroom, located at 615 SE Alder Street in Portland.

The David Samuel Project will perform the opening acoustic set, while The Gusto Brothers will perform the second electric set. All ages are welcome.

Next Tuesday, January 12th at 7 pm is the Open Poetry Reading in the Gallery at Walters Cultural Arts Center 527 E Main Street Hillsboro, OR 97124.

Poets and lovers of poetry alike will enjoy these evenings of readings in the gallery. Readers and listeners are welcome to enjoy works by established or yet to be discovered talent. A sign-up sheet is available, so please arrive early.
