Laurie Mercier talks with Ian Urquhart author of the recent book, Costly Fix: Power, Politics, and Nature in the Tar Sands. Ian Urquhart is a professor of political science at University of Alberta. They discuss the post-1995 Alberta tar sands boom, and how the state inflated the profitability of the tar sands turning a blind eye to environmental issues, and why environmental groups and First Nations have had difficulties in establishing counter-movements to market fundamentalism.  You can follow Ian Urquhart at twitter: @iturquhart
