JMAY is a Portland Oregon based DJ/Producer and Audio Engineer with musical roots in New York City. His DJ career started in 2003 when he was a young hiphop producer with top 4O aspirations a la Dr. Dre and Scott Storch. His production work has gotten praise from NYC hip hop legends such as DJ Soul, Just Blaze and Afrika Bambataa himself. Starting in 2009, while working at the Virgin Megastore and with the Duke Ellington Orchestra management team, he held residency at forward thinking NYC Venues such as SOBs, Santos Party Haus, Le Poisson Rouge, Bembe, Nublu, Greenhouse NYC, Southpaw, Hudson River Ferry, the Legendary Limbo 103 after hours and the Bushwick Pirate Boat along with throwing some of the most memorable underground baile funk soundclashes of the 2007-2012 Brooklyn Loft Party era. From 2009-2012 he was one of the most prolific recordists in the New York city scene recording dub plates and singles in his bushwick studio with people from all over the world.
