Saying goodbye to two great rockers who died way too soon; plus, war songs
This week, the music world said a sad and sudden goodbye to the great Tom Petty. We’ll listen to some of his best lesser-known work. Then, closer to home, The Songcircle honors the fifth anniversary of the passing of our onetime guest, beloved Portland and Washington, DC musician Tom Guernsey, of legendary ‘60s garage bands The Hangmen and The Reekers; I’ll be joined by his children Ben and Jessica to discuss his life and play his music.
We’ll also hear some tunes that weren’t on the soundtrack of the Ken Burns/Lynn Novick Vietnam War documentary, but could or should have been.
