An Iraq veteran named Taylor Winston was labelled a 'hero' after he rescued people from the Las Vegas mass shooting and took them to the hospital. As soon as the gunman had opened fire on the crowd below the hotel room, Winston had immediately run off to try and get some help and found several white trucks in a field. He took his chance and tried one of the first few in the parking area and found that the keys were still inside. He stole the truck and made for the crowd and took 20 to 30 injured people to a nearby hospital. Winston says that his experience in the military may have helped him in this stressful and horrifying situation.

Several students were suspended from a New Jersey high school last week following the assault of a 14-year-old transgender student. Kylie Perez was attacked by another student in a hallway at East Side High School in Newark. The student who had beat Perez and those who recorded it have been suspended, officials say. School officials also say the students who were suspended will have disciplinary hearings this week. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has also said the incident is being investigated as a possible bias crime but no charges have been filed. Perez has stated that they're not going to let it fade away, and that they're going to make sure that people know that trans lives, every life, matters.
