Legacies of the Movement of the Revolutionary Left

Laurie Mercier talks with Marian Schlotterbeck about the legacies of the Movement of the Revolutionary Left (or MIR), both before and after the Sept 11, 1973, military coup that overthrew the democratically-elected government of Salvador Allende in Chile. Schlotterbeck is an assistant professor of history at University of CA Davis, and a former researcher for the Chile Documentation Project at the National Security Archive—a great online resource for the thousands of documents concerning often secret interventions of the United States in Latin America and the rest of the world:http://nsarchive.gwu.edu/  She is the author of the forthcoming book, Beyond the Vanguard: Everyday Revolutionaries in Allende's Chile (Univ. CA Press, 2018).
