In this episode of the Radiozine, host Jennifer Kemp interviews David Newman and Laura Orgel, president and secretary of the Rafiki Village Project. The Rafiki Village Project is a local non-profit that helps to support villages in rural Tanzania, working in tandem with Tanzanian people to provide and improve education, health care and access to water. Laura and David discuss what inspired the Rafiki Village Project, past and future projects, challenges people face in Tanzania, and their ethos of economic justice. On the Evening of Sept 16th the Rafiki Village Project will be hosting a concert featuring the lively rhythms of Pa'lante! Latin Jazz Quintet, featuring Nick Gefroh and Francisco Marmolejo. Opening for Pa'lante! will be The AfroFolk Project, led by Jan DeWeese. There will be a silent auction, a raffle, delicious food and beverages (alcoholic and non).
