Racial Profiling and Deception in the Portland Police Bureau

This is a special KBOO program that we bring you to illustrate the story of a Portland citizen, whose relationship with the Portland Police Bureau and City of Portland bureaucracy spells out a tragic and very real dynamic present in our city.

Citizen Justice Deferred is the first installation of a series that will examine institutional inequity, corruption, racism, and other behavior that civil servants engage in when they think no one's looking.

In this hourlong debut, you'll hear the story of Merrick Bonneau, a longtime Portland resident who has been filtered through the criminal justice system and had the course of his life radically and adversely altered-- all without ever having committed a single crime.

Special thanks to Merrick Bonneau for being willing to revisit severe personal trauma to contribute in assembling this story in partnership with KBOO.
