Milenio / Books to Prisoners

Milenio is an organization that facilitates the involvement of Latinos at all levels of public decision-making and politics. Milenio strives to improve education outcomes, advocate for immigration reform, incarceration, women's rights, LGBT rights, political innovation and engage diverse sectors of the community in the political sector. Our organization conducts analysis to inform, influence, promote and engage diverse sectors of the Latino community, with an understanding that advancing Latinos advances a shared future.

Juan Rogel will join us to discuss the organizing on April 25th to demand for the city of Tigard to release a statement regarding their official stance on racism and inequality. Yes it’s possible! Specially working in collectiveness with community leaders and grassroot groups. Si se puede

Books To Prisoners is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a love of reading behind bars, encourage the pursuit of knowledge and self-empowerment, and break the cycle of recidivism. We believe that books are tools for learning and for opening minds to new ideas and possibilities, and engage incarcerated individuals with the benefits of reading by mailing tens of thousands of free books to inmates across the country each year.

They will join us to discuss "Presenting the Movie the 13th" Hosted by Portland Books to Prisoners and Portland Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee on April 25, 6-10pm at In Other Words Feminist Community Center, 14 NE Killingsworth St, Portland, Oregon
