Training for Transformation

from Training for Transformation:

"The polarization of law enforcement and community members deepens as our nation continues  to erupt into national protests and states of emergency in Ferguson, Baltimore, New York, Cleveland, South Carolina, Florida and Chicago after a flurry of unarmed residents were killed by law enforcement. Trust has been broken, the police are scared, communities are unsafe and protests erupting. We know the problem. The question is, 'What is the solution?'"

Jo Ann is joined by Hun Taing on Voices From the Edge to discuss her work as a Cambodian genocide survivor, union and community organizer, immigrant rights advocate, trauma informed equity specialist, Buddhist mindfulness practitioner & co-founder and CEO of Training for Transformation.

Hun Taing has over fifteen years experience transforming communities, organizations and institutions. She is a Cambodian genocide survivor who grew up in Long Beach, California, lived internationally and worked on both coasts of the U.S. with an acumen for cross cultural awareness, equity and inclusion that cuts through language, cultural and religious barriers. She has a long history organizing and empowering low income, communities of color, immigrants and refugees to advocate for economic justice, immigrant rights and civil rights. She’s a systems' thinker, strategic and practical with the ability to open hearts and the skills to mobilize and inspire people to take action. Hun earned a BA in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a MA in Conflict Transformation from the School for International Training Graduate Institute.
