  • Laurie Mercier talks with Michael Shannon Executive Director Oregon Fair Trade Campaign. Shannon joins the Old Mole to talk about Fair trade and the Campaign to stop the TPP.
  • Bill Resnick interviews Joseph Schwartz who teaches at Temple University, political science. His published books include The Future of Democratic Equality: Reconstructing Social Solidarity in a Fragmented United States. Schwartz worked in both of Jesse Jackson presidential campaigns. And he’s been watching and writing about the Bernie Sanders campaign. They discuss the lesser evilism problem and how the Sanders campaign could be the basis for building a broad independent left.
  • Mike Snedeker and Jan Haaken discuss the sentecing of Jessica Smith in Clatsop County Oregon on August 25th, and the history of public and legal responses to women who murder their children. Smith was sentenced to life in prison for drugging and killing her two-year old daughter and attempting to kill her thirteen year old daughter in a Cannon Beach hotel room in 2014.
