"We Too Sing America" with racial justic activist Deepa Iyer

Host Sarika Mehta speaks with Deepa Iyer about her new book "We Too Sing America: South Asian, Arab, Muslim, and Sikh Immigrants Shape Our Multiracial Future." They talk about recent racial flash points and the hate crimes directed at South Asians, Sikh Americans and Muslim Americans in a post-9/11 era. They will also discuss immigration and Syrian refugees.

Deepa Iyer is a leading racial justice activist, who served for a decade as the executive director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), focusing on community building in post-9/11 America. She teaches in the Asian American studies program at the University of Maryland.
