Interview with Sandy Miller of FOZE
Courtney Scott hosts the program today with guest Sandy Miller who is with Free the Oregon Zoo Elephants (FOZE). Sandy explains what the mission of FOZE is and why and how elephants suffer in captivity. Sandy got involved when she saw a film "I am an Elephant" which clued her into the plight of elephants in Southeast Asia . Afterwards, she met a representative of FOZE and learned that there are elephants right here in Portland who are suffering from years of confinement at the Oregon Zoo. While zoos around the nation and the world are closing their elephant exhibits and circuses, inlcuding Ringling Brothers, are retiring elephants from performing, it's a good time to question whether elephants belong in zoos or in any captive environment. Or are they as Scientific American stated "uniquely unsuited to captivity?"

Sandy also announces a benefit screening for FOZE of Courtney Scott's film "From Suffering to Satori". Find out more about the film and the benefit here. http://fromsufferingtosatorimovie.com/screenings/
