Education...
Ron Herndon's experiences with the educational system in Portland, Oregon are well known to those who have been following him. He has consistently organized against educational injustice and disparities done to African youth. He had a direct hand in getting Reed College to establish a Black studies program. With the Black United Front (local chapter), he called for equality in education, focusing on schools such as Harriet Tubman Middle School.
His dedication to equality in education led him to become the director of Albina Head Start School in Northeast Portland, and eventually became chairman of the board of the National Head Start Association. During his dedicated tenure Head Start has, over the years, had its capacities reduced; particularly by the past two administrations. We will be discussing this, amongst other things, with Mr. Herndon.
