This week we'll be talking with Buster Ross, LGBTQ Program Director
Hazelden Recovery. Buster has pioneered a new approach to providing recovery services for LGBTQ folks:  http://www.golocalpdx.com/lifestyle/hazelden-creates-first-treatment-model-in-nation-for-lgbtq-community and http://www.golocalpdx.com/lifestyle/interview-buster-ross-creates-first-lgbtq-substance-abuse-treatment-model

Check out Buster's piece on the need to ban reparative therapy for queer folks in our state: http://www.golocalpdx.com/lifestyle/when-therapy-does-more-harm-than-good

We're excited to sit with Buster and discuss the psychology of addiction, its pervasive effects on the lives of queer folks, and how Hazelden's model for treatment of addiction is a powerful tool to aid in recovery for queer folks. Queer lives and addiction are each complicated subjects and challenging in their own ways for people's experiences in the world, and where they meet can be both extremely difficult, as well as transformative when folks begin to find their way back to themselves.
