With peace negotiations yet again underway between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, KBOO's One Land Many Voices on Friday, August 23 from 9 – 10 am takes a look at why these talks are happening now and explores with Yousef Munayyer of the Jerusalem Fund whether these negotiations will likely contribute anything meaningful towards resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The second half of the show features an interview with Chris McGreal, a correspondent who worked out of Africa and the Middle East for The Guardian. He was based in Jerusalem during the second Intifada, and later reported from the Egyptian and Libyan revolutions. Currently, he lives in Portland and will be discussing the book he is writing on Israeli Apartheid.

Yousef Munayyer is Executive Director of The Jerusalem Fund and its educational program, The Palestine Center. His doctoral research focuses on political conflict as well as the microfoundations of ethnic cleansing and political repression. A Palestinian-American, he frequently writes on matters of foreign policy in the Arab and Muslim world and civil rights and civil liberties issues in the United States. His Op-Eds have appeared regularly in numerous national newspapers and he has frequently been on numerous media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, CBS and Al-Jazeera English and C-Span.
Chris McGreal has lived all over the world, but now calls calls Portland home. Chris was formerly based in Africa and the Middle East for The Guardian. He covered conflicts across Africa during the 1990s, including Angola, Liberia, Somalia, Rwanda and Zaire/Congo. Chris was based in Jerusalem during the second intifada, and later reported from the Egyptian and Libyan revolutions. In the 1980s, he reported from Central America for the BBC and The Independent, covering the conflicts in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala, the US invasion of Panama and the drug cartels in Colombia. Chris has won a number of awards for his reporting including Amnesty International UK print reporter of the year for coverage of the Rwanda genocide, the James Cameron prize for reporting from Africa and the Martha Gellhorn award for writing from Gaza that "penetrated the established version of events and told an unpalatable truth”.
