Focus on QDoc, the queer documentary film festival in Portland
On the next Out Loud, tune in to hear from Russ Gage & David Weissman, the guys who created QDoc. We'll discuss highlights from this year's film festival line up, including directors at the movies & other special guests. Like: Which local band is playing live music before the opening night movie as the theater fills up & usually sells out? Which film highlights LGBTQ activists & civil rights work from the 70s? How many documentaries are from foreign countries or cultures?
Before creating QDoc:
Russ served for 10 years as the Operations Director of the San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, the oldest and largest LGBT Film Festival in the world. David has been a film maker (and film festival participant) for over 20 years, and is best known for his award winning feature documentary, THE COCKETTES (2002).
QDoc is the only queer documentary film festival in the US, and the second one in the world.
QDoc opens Thurs May 28 and runs thru Sun May 31 @ the Clinton St Theater in Portland. More details: queerdocfest.org
Last but not least, some local community announcements & event listings will be shared at the end of the show.
