Chile: Music of the Revolution

Nueva Canción, the music that accompanied the social movement that led to Salvador Allende's socialist government in Chile in the early 1970s, included Victor Jarra, Violeta Parra, Inti-Illimani and many others.  Pete Seeger spoke and sang for them both here and in South America.  Kim Davis is a Latin American historian who studies the era and its music, and here she talks with Clayton Morgareidge about the music and its times.  She also chose the several musical selections we hear:
