Impact of and resistence to austerity in Greece
The Greek government under pressure from international banking has cut jobs and social services drastically, rendering a bad economic situation worse. Costas Panayoktakis is a political economist and activist from Greece who teaches at CUNY and is expert on the economic crisis and its politics. He is the author of Remaking Scarcity: From Capitalist Inefficiency to Economic Democracy. Here he talks with the Old Mole's Bill Resnick about the impact of austerity policies on the people of Greece and political movements resisting those policies.
