Tonight at 6:00 PM on KBOO Community Radio, Transpositive PDX presents a special broadcast honoring Transgender Day of Remembrance.

We will be airing a recording of the Transgender Day of Remembrance Interfaith Vigil, held on November 20, 2025, at First United Methodist Church of Portland. This vigil brings together voices from across faith traditions and spiritual communities to remember and honor transgender people around the world whose lives have been lost to anti-transgender violence.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed each year to mark the human cost of transphobia and hatred, and to create space for public mourning, reflection, and solidarity. The interfaith nature of this service reflects the reality that transgender people exist in every community and every spiritual tradition, and that the call to resist violence and affirm human dignity crosses theological and cultural boundaries.

This recorded vigil is both a memorial and a witness. Through spoken word, prayer, and music, participants name the losses that too often go unacknowledged, while also affirming the ongoing presence, resilience, and sacred worth of transgender lives. The service invites listeners not only to remember those who have died, but to reflect on the conditions that make such violence possible and persistent.

The program features prayers, music, reflections, and readings from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Pagan, and other spiritual leaders, including Rev. Rachel Byers, Rev. Julián Jamaica Soto, Cassidy Brown, Michaela McCormick, Leila Wice, Nicolette Schweizer, and many others. The evening includes the solemn reading of names, candle lighting, and musical offerings from the Chancel Choir and soloists.

Please join us for this powerful hour of remembrance, collective mourning, and shared resolve—tonight at 6 PM on KBOO Community Radio, as Transpositive PDX bears witness to lives lost, communities grieving, and the ongoing demand for justice and compassion.
