Workers Blockade at Port of Longview

Union workers took over the Port of Longview Washington this morning to challenge the hiring of non-union workers by a grain export company. The workers say the hiring of scabs violates the agreement between the union and the management of the port. The standoff began in early July when the Export Grain Terminal Group decided to violate a union contract and hire workers outside of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, or I-L-W-U.

Craig Merrilese is a representative of the Union and spoke with KBOO's Jenka Soderberg.
