Leanne Kent Norden is a ceramic artist residing in Portland with her husband, cat, four ducks, and garden. Her relationship with ceramics began in high school in Southern California, then grew while she was a student at Tulane University, and continued when she moved to Portland during the height of the Pandemic. She shares and sells her work as the self-titled Crescent City Creator, an homage to New Orleans, the city where she first was inspired to recognize herself as an artist. She considers herself a life-long lover of crafts but she didn’t always view this as being an artist. Until recently, she’s been working at Trader Joe’s to pay the bills and creating work at The Mudroom, a ceramic studio in SE Portland. In May, she began a four month internship with Bird Alliance of Oregon, ended her community studio membership, and began the process of setting up her own home studio.
