In their first live performance of 1973, The Grateful Dead debuted a record seven! songs (and one more in their second show). Of that initial batch, four were pretty consistently played (Eyes of the World, Row Jimmy, China Doll, They Love Each Other), two others were played fairly consistently though with sizable gaps in the performance history (Loose Lucy, Here Comes Sunshine) and one disappeared within five months (Wave That Flag).
In today's show, I'll offer you second (or even third) performances of some of these new tunes, most of which sound like the band has been playing them for months (or at least weeks).
Oh and since these shows also feature the brand new proto-Wall of Sound, there are plenty of aural thrills, frills and even chills.
