Photo of Delores Winston throwing her head back and laughing after she's just graduated from Seattle Central Community College, her grandson's head resting on her.

Desiree Hellegers memorializes — and we hear excerpts of archival audio of—Delores Loann Winston, a formerly homeless activist with Seattle's WHEEL-Women in Black , and a teenage volunteer in the 1970s with Seattle's Black Panther Breakfast program, who died in May, and whose story is featured in the oral history collection No Room of Her Own: Women's Stories of Homelessness, Life, Death, and Resistance. Special thanks to Delores' mother Bettye Owens, who joined me to offer reflections on Delores and to read excerpts from Delores' story.
