Joseph Gallivan interviews visionary painter Noel Taylor

On Tuesday February 1, 2022, Joseph Gallivan interviews visionary painter Noel Taylor. Taylor talks about using the mische technique to make oil paintings that feel backlit, how his abstract forms come to him in a meditative state and how he stops his ego from taking over. He talks about how his brand of psychedelic art allows him to access a universal subconscious as described by Joseph Campbell, and why he has sworn off realism and symbolism for a form of organic abstraction.

This show was recorded in person, with lapel mics and no masks but socially distanced, at Noel Talor’s home in Portland.

FROM THE WEB SITE

“Noel Taylor has studied the classics, sought out great teachers, spent years as a highly collectible artist in traditional oil paintings, to come to an extreme turning point in his life to be now creating these illusionary, metarealistic, just wondrous paintings that seem to capture a moment of movement within an alien realm!”

— Julie Lloydean, Owner of Lloydean Gallery
